Information for Returning Students
Welcome Back to IUPUI
Students who previously attended IUPUI to seek their undergraduate degree always have a home at the university. Whether you’ve been out for one year or twenty years, welcome back! At the Office of Admissions, we pride ourselves on how easy we try to make the return to college after an academic absence, and we will do whatever we can to assist you during the re-entering process. It is our goal get you set in the right direction and on the path for academic success.
Determining Your Status
Please read all the information below before submitting the returning student application. Once you have read the information, click on the link "Ready to reapply?" at the bottom of the page.
If you previously enrolled at IUPUI as a degree-seeking student, but did not finish your bachelor’s degree, and wish to enroll in classes again, you are a Returning Student.
IMPORTANT NOTE: It is unnecessary for you to complete the returning student application if you have sat out from classes for less than one academic year. Instead, you should contact your academic advisor. Not sure who to contact? Click here for a contact listing for returning students.
Are you a previous IUPUI student who wants to earn a second bachelor's degree? You will be an Undergraduate Student.
If you have attended another Indiana University campus as a degree-seeking student, but have never attended IUPUI, and you have not completed your undergraduate degree, the process is different. You are an Intercampus Transfer.

Admissions Committee Expectations
Applying as a returning student is much different than applying as a student who has never attended IUPUI. Once you complete the electronic application, our office will evaluate your application and academic record. You will then receive a letter in the mail within the next seven to ten business days detailing what steps you need to take next.
If you were previously dismissed from the university, it is important to realize there may be additional steps you will need to take. It is recommended to start the return application process early.
When completing the application, make sure to list every college and university you have attended. If you have attended another college (but did not complete a bachelor's degree) outside of the Indiana University, Purdue University or Ivy Tech system since you last attended IUPUI, you must provide us with an official copy of your transcripts. Our office will evaluate your record and provide you with any credits you may have earned. Applications are not processed until all of the required documentation has been received.
